Our mission is to give everyone the tools and skills to build and shape the future of the Internet of Things. We want inventors of all ages to discover what is possible when given the powers of engineering, electronics, coding and making in a way that is fun, easy to understand and powerful.
SAM Labs is a London-based startup that was created by a team of engineers from Imperial College London and designers from the Royal College of Art, backed by venture capital from Imperial Innovations.
This workshop is for families with children aged 6-11. The objective of the workshop is to outline what the Internet-of-Things means for the world and for how children can experiment with connecting physical things with sensors and programming them to do useful and fun things.
No programming experience is required, this is done via the SamLabs app which is easy an intuitive to use, for all ages. Examples of creations by the SamLabs community can be seen at https://www.samlabs.com/community.
The learning outcome is intended to be a basic understanding of what I-o-T might mean for the world and for children, some basics about programming and an un understanding of how sensors and objects can talk to each other intelligently. And to have lots of fun and inspiration while playing and tinkering.
SamLabs makes wireless building blocks for children, so that they can invent incredible machines and connect them via the Internet-of-Things.
